All around the world, DJs everywhere start to get very excited come this time of year… Why? The largest Mobile DJ convention is about to go down! And what a better place for it to be than in Las Vegas?

A good mobile disk jockey needs to keep up to date not only with the music trends, but also with ideas for crowd participation, games, tips and tricks etc. The Mobile Beat DJ conference is a week-long conference that caters to the mobile DJ. There are dozens of seminars on various topics to attend. There is the exhibition floor with all the latest technology and products from vendors to look at, play with, ask questions and of course purchase (at some great discounts!). And then there is the networking with DJs from all over the world! This will be my fourth year in a row going to the Las Vegas Mobile Beat DJ convention.

Every year I have learnt so many new things, that I need to keep going back! Being able to talk one on one with so many DJs is one of the most valuable parts of this trip. We exchange ideas, help each other, share advice, offer constructive criticism, and of course have some good ol’ fun together! The best part of all of this is we build a huge DJ support community and become friends at the same time. Throughout the year we can reach out to our fellow DJs for help when needed with a particular challenge or idea we may have.

While I am there this year, I will also be attending a separate 2 day training course giving by long time DJ industry pro Alan Dobson, called Top Gun DJ. I’ve had many conversations with Alan over the years at the conference and can not wait to get two full days of insights and tips from him on how to make my Montreal wedding DJ business better!

Brides and Grooms to be, don’t forget when you are searching for your wedding DJ, ask them what type of training they do to stay current? Keep their edge? And keep things fresh?

I also wrote a blog post, Training (is your DJ doing it?), a while back, you can read it here.

And remember what happens in Vegas, ends up on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube! If you’re a DJ and your going to show, send me a tweet @UptownXpress and let’s get together!
